Lewis Jones has backed Chelsea to hand Leeds United a heavy defeat on Saturday evening in the Premier League.
The Sky Sports pundit claimed that Frank Lampard’s defence is set for a “significant workout” but also predicted that they will cruise to a 3-0 win.
The Whites travel to Stamford Bridge on the back of their impressive win at Everton and will be met by 2,000 fans for the first time in nearly a year.
Writing in his Sky Sports prediction blog, Jones claimed that Chelsea’s quality in the final third will shine through in a “bonkers” clash.
“The Chelsea defensive juggernaut will be given a significant workout this weekend,” he said. “Leeds won’t be scared to throw caution to the wind with their usual gusto but may just bump into a Thiago Silva shaped wall.
“With the space on offer up the other end for Chelsea’s forward players, who will be given license to test their skills one-on-one with Leeds’ brave defensive shape, chances are going to fall their way at regular intervals in what should be a typically bonkers encounter.
“Their quality will shine through in the final third.”
Thiago Silva has improved Chelsea’s defence significantly, and Jones pointed that out in his analysis and prediction.
In 450 minutes since the draw against West Brom, the Brazilian has only conceded one goal, but they haven’t faced anyone who brings the pressure of Leeds.
The only two real tests in that run have been against Spurs and Manchester United, but can the latter really be classed as a massive challenge this season?
Leeds bring ridiculous pressure and energy, as pointed out by LUFCDATA recently. He shared that the Whites have covered the most distance, as well as the most recoveries, pressures and tackles this season.
Leeds have covered the MOST distance so far in the Premier League and are averaging 115km per game in 2020/21. Fulham rank bottom in the top flight with 103km. Leeds also top metrics for most ball recoveries (252), most successful pressures (248) & most tackles won (96). 💪 #LUFC pic.twitter.com/xUC01K8GiM

Will this so-called “juggernaut” be able to easily sweep that aside and keep a clean-sheet? Time will tell.
