Journalist tips Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville for Dutch national team call-up

Crysencio Summerville has been tipped to earn a call-up to the Netherlands national team after his form for Leeds, if Ronald Koeman “takes football seriously”.

Summerville has been in tremendous form for the Whites with six goals and four assists in nine appearances this season, attracting interest from clubs in the Premier League.

And now journalist Suleyman Ozturk has told Voetbal International (31 October) that Koeman should call him up to the senior squad, as the Championship is a “playground” for a player of his quality.

“The Championship is a playground for him,” he said.

“I think he is eligible for the Dutch team. You can bring him in in the last half hour, when the spaces become larger and you have to force something against Italy or France.

“If Koeman takes football seriously, he will put him on the list.”

Talent

While most national teams won’t even look twice at any players who aren’t playing in the top flight somewhere, there should be some exceptions made.

The Netherlands are not quite the force they once were at international level, and Summerville is undoubtedly one of the most in-form Dutch forwards in world football right now.

He did it well at the Premier League level in a struggling team last year, and this year he has proven that he is too good for this level already and he has the attributes to be able to help Koeman’s team improve.

If Wilfried Gnonto can get call-ups to the Italy squad then there is no reason why Summerville can’t get a call-up to the Dutch squad to really introduce himself to the world stage.

He is too good for Under-21’s football and if he’s going to be leaving the squad during the upcoming break, then it’d be better that he is playing at a higher level rather than somewhere he’s too good for.
