Journalist shares Steven Gerrard likely stance on Leeds United job
Dean Jones claims that Steven Gerrard may be open to taking over the Leeds United job amid their shoddy managerial hunt.
The former Eurosport journalist warned that Leeds fans may not be open to appointing the former Rangers and Aston Villa boss.
Gerrard, who enjoyed a decorated playing career at Liverpool, struggled at his only Premier League job as a manager.
Jones told Give Me Sport, “I think he’d be open to hearing about it and I’d be surprised if he wasn’t.
“But he’d have to be cautious about how much he genuinely believes he could turn things around because the support isn’t going to be automatically behind Steven Gerrard.
“There are going to be some supporters that wouldn’t want him leading their club.”

Dubious
The Englishman’s stock was at a high when he moved to the Premier League to take over the Aston Villa job.
Rangers were on a ten-year SPFL drought due to their issues in the past and he ended up delivering the title and stayed unbeaten all season.
They also played an exciting brand of football that put Premier League clubs on high alert and at the time if Leeds were looking for a new manager, fans may not have opposed it a great deal.
However, his spell at Villa was a disastrous one despite them backing him in the window and that makes him a doubt about whether or not he’s ready to cut it at the Premier League stage.
That being said, if the only other option they have in mind is Nuno, at least Gerrard will play a better brand of football and could command the respect of the dressing room due to the reputation he earned as a player.
It remains to be seen what Leeds end up doing but they need to make a decision quickly
