Journalist shares if Leeds United takeover derailing quest to hire new manager

LeedsLive reporter Beren Cross has shared that the Leeds United takeover is not impacting the managerial search.

He has revealed that there have plenty of discussions about the new manager in London this week but a decision has not yet been made.

Peter Lowy and Jed York are also expected to be involved given the finances they’ve invested into the club over the past few years.

Cross wrote in his Q&A on 22 June, “Marathe, with some very close collaboration from Kinnear, will ultimately make the final decision as chairman-elect. However, there has been plenty of discussions across the interviews in London this week. The likes of Peter Lowy and Jed York will, I’m sure, have been involved given the finances they have committed to the club in recent years.

“The takeover process is not impacting the head coach search anymore. Obviously, the bartering between 49ers Enterprises and Radrizzani delayed a meaningful start to proceedings, but it’s not a factor at this point.”

Good news

Leeds cannot let the takeover talk derail their quest to find a new manager.

Marathe and Kinnear are both responsible for the role and with the latter staying on post the takeover as well, it makes sense that they get on with their business.

While Leeds fans will not be too happy that Kinnear is staying put, they know that there needs to be someone from the old guard to ensure a smooth transition of power.

Marathe will be aware of the mistakes made by the previous board and will look to ensure that the same things do not happen this time around.

An interim sporting director has been put in place so that will help them for the short term and then they can see who they want post the summer transfer window.

Right now they need to bring in a new manager and once that happens, one can expect new signings walking through the door and with player exits happening as well.

In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has been left stunned as Phil Hay has dropped a fresh update on who the Whites are considering bringing in as manager this summer.
