Journalist shares if Joe Gelhardt will look to leave Leeds United amid lack of game time
Joe Gelhardt will reportedly not consider leaving Leeds United in the January transfer window in a bid to get more first-team minutes.
According to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, he will want progression in terms of his first-team involvement compared to last season, but he does not mind bidding his time with the Under-21s.
Gelhardt made his Leeds debut under Marcelo Bielsa last season and has made appearances off the bench under Jesse Marsch as well.

Speaking on the Inside Elland Road podcast over the possibility of him leaving on loan, Smith said at 38:32, “As long as he’s getting minutes here and there he’ll be okay, but there’ll need to be a progression compared to what he got last season, which I think is likely.”
Should improve
Gelhardt is well loved at Thorp Arch and the coaches know just exactly how to get the best out of him and make him a better player.
If he goes on loan, they will want him to deliver the goods and if he does not, there’s a good chance that he will bide his time on the bench.
They will not care about his development because they have not brought him for his potential, but for the player he currently is.
We believe that Gelhardt could go on to score 10 league goals from January at a Championship club, but instead, getting Premier League minutes and thriving constantly for the Under-21s could be good enough for him.
He also does not seem to be the kind of player who’ll force an exit as he’s respected behind the scenes at Elland Road.
Speaking on Match of the Day 2 last season, Jermaine Jenas was gushing over his “incredible” skill and fans would surely want to see more of that this time around as well.
In other Leeds United news, a Sky Sports pundit has delivered Jesse Marsch’s “sack” verdict after what he heard this month.
