Journalist shares how Leeds United fans mocked Ipswich Town in EFL Championship clash

Leeds United fans called their Ipswich Town counterparts a small town in Norwich as the two sides faced off on Saturday, 26 August.

Portman Road played host to a goal-fest between two sides expected to battle it out right until the bitter end of the season for promotion.

The first half saw five goals being scored, with the visitors grabbing three out of them.

LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross wrote on Twitter, “‘Small town in Norwich’ sing the Leeds United supporters. Really vocal away end this afternoon.”

Spot on

Norwich is obviously the most popular city in East Anglia and is more well known in footballing terms than Ipswich.

They have been in the Premier League recently and have a decent reputation in this century – something which Leeds’ opponents on Saturday don’t.

Leeds fans can always be relied on to be entertaining home or away and regardless of how their team is faring, they make it an atmosphere worth remembering.

Daniel Farke would also have been thrilled by the rapturous support his players got away from home and that certainly would’ve been something the players would’ve liked too.

The Championship is not an easy league to get out of so the fans play a huge role in motivating their sides over the line.

There were plenty of encouraging signs from this one and hopefully, the Whites can now start climbing up the table.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have now emerged as favourites to sign a Premier League player likened to Lionel Messi.
