Journalist shares Georginio Rutter surgery update ahead of Leeds United v Watford

Georginio Rutter has reacted well to hernia surgery ahead of Leeds United’s clash with Watford on Good Friday, according to Joe Donnohue.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (27 March), the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reports that the striker has responded well to his surgery which caused him to miss the international break for France’s Under-21’s.

Daniel Farke is set to host a press conference later on Wednesday afternoon where he will confirm the news, but Rutter is now expected to feature in the big clash at Vicarage Road.

Leeds United get a major boost

There were huge concerns that Rutter would miss the big game against Watford after the international break because of his hernia surgery, but he now looks like he’ll be okay.

The French wizard has been in sensational form this season, leading the way for assists this season and becoming a key member of Daniel Farke’s side as either a number nine or a number ten.

The team are unbeaten in 2024 in the Championship, which has helped them overtake Leicester at the top of the table and put them right on course to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Farke has been known to look for continuity with his starting lineups whenever necessary, but he won’t want to risk Rutter’s injury getting worse if he isn’t completely ready.

However if he has reacted well to the surgery and is ready to play then it is a huge boost for the Whites in what is likely to be a tough game at the business end of the season.
