Journalist shares ‘big’ Leeds United admission amid recent situation change at Elland Road

Leeds United are back to having a “big-team mentality” on the back of their recent form, according to Dean Jones.

Speaking to GiveMeSport on Thursday (9 November), the former Eurosport journalist said the Whites are getting to the stage where they are “on the coattails” of Leicester City and Ipswich Town.

He added that Daniel Farke’s side need to “keep looking up” instead of down at the sides below them after they have got themselves into a “good situation” recently after beating the Foxes 1-0 on 3 November.

“I think Leeds are back to having a big-team mentality and that’s what they needed,” said Jones. “They are getting to the stage where they’re on the coattails of the top two.

“So I think they need to continue to look forward rather than be looking over their shoulders and worrying about how many positions they are deep into the playoffs or how many points Southampton might be behind them or anything like that.

“Leeds have just got to keep looking up, looking forwards and focusing on themselves for now because they’ve got themselves into a really good situation recently.”

Keep pushing

It was a huge result for Leeds when they went to Leicester and secured an excellent three points that will have given them confidence that they can finish in the top two in the Championship this season.

It means that the Whites have now beaten both the Foxes and Ipswich away as they look to close the gap those two sides have managed to open up.

It will by no means be an easy task to achieve, but they just need to keep pushing forward, focus on their own results and hope that the rest takes care of itself.

Farke’s side have a couple of games coming up where they will be confident of picking up three points, starting with the home game against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (11 November).

Another victory to add to their solid recent form would potentially ramp up the pressure on the top two sides and ensure that they continue to look over their shoulders.

In other Leeds United news, Plymouth could be facing a dilemma as one star is ruled out of the game against the Whites.
