Journalist reacts as former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard linked with Leeds United job
Former Liverpool captain and ex Rangers boss Steven Gerrard taking over at Leeds United, will be suicidal, believes Javier Parra Pena.
The Idioma Futve and Breaking the Lines journalist also put Frank Lampard in the same bracket, given his disastrous spells at Everton and Chelsea.
The Gerrard admission comes in response to the Telegraph claiming that he was keen on taking over at Elland Road to replace the departed Sam Allardyce.

Pena wrote on Twitter, “Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard have to try to be reborn in the Championship or even in a lower level league. Betting on them in the Premier League, right now, is almost suicidal.”
Not needed
While Leeds are a Championship club now, they certainly will be looking at managers any lower-half team battling relegation would.
Going for someone like Gerrard would be taking a massive gamble at a time when they really can avoid doing that.
He may have done well at Rangers and may do the same thing at Elland Road too, but his recent stint in the Premier League makes this a hard move to sell to the fans.

The board’s relationship with the fans is already at an all-time low and doing something like this will be like the final nail in the coffin.
Gerrard is a big name and there is an understanding of why they’re linked with him, but going for someone like Brendan Rodgers or Graham Potter makes so much more sense.
It remains to be seen which route the club ends up going in but hopefully, they end up making the right decision.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that a Whites senior player is now set to leave the club at a discounted fee post relegation and will not be signing a new contract.
