Journalist raves live on air about Daniel Farke after taking over Leeds United ‘car crash’ – talkSPORT
Dave Simpson, a journalist for The Guardian and avid Leeds United fan, has raved about Daniel Farke’s ability to turn round the “car crash” at Elland Road.
Players such as Georginio Rutter, Joel Piroe, Crysencio Summerville, Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu have all been instrumental for Leeds following the club’s relegation from the Premier League last season.
But Simpson has singled out the manager for high praise, ahead of the Whites’ battle against Norwich City on Wednesday 24 January, who Farke helped lead to the promotion on two occasions.
“He walked into a bit of a car crash really,” Simpson said live on talkSPORT on Wednesday (24 January, 1:37pm).
“But he sorted it out, very methodically the way he seems to do everything. He has brought real professionalism on and off the pitch.
“They seem to have a certain system, they play a certain way as they did under Marcelo Bielsa. It is slightly different but you can see the patterns of play. It works, it seems to be getting results, and he has recruited really well.”
Credit where it’s due
Ahead of a huge clash with the Canaries, it is important to give credit to Farke for what he has already accomplished at Elland Road since his arrival.
Leeds are sitting comfortably inside the Championship playoff spots, having won 16 of their 28 league matches, creating a 12-point gap between themselves and Hull City in seventh.
Although many expected Leicester City and Ipswich Town to run away with the automatic promotion spots, and it looks as though the former still will, Leeds are just five points behind the latter.
Farke’s old side could come back to haunt him on Wednesday night. However, Elland Road will have total faith in him and the players to pull off an all-important victory against the Canaries.

With a run of four league games following the Norwich tie, Leeds could end February in second place, with all four matches coming against bottom-half-of-the-table opposition – Bristol City, Rotherham United, Swansea City and Plymouth Argyle.
Farke is working wonders at Elland Road, especially after the horrendous end to the 2022/23 season. It will be an incredible feat to add yet another promotion to his CV.
