Journalist: Not everybody convinced about Leeds United target Arnaud Kalimuendo
Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Arnaud Kalimuendo but not everyone is convinced by him, as per Dean Jones.
The former Bleacher Report journalist told Give Me Sport on 19 July that the young striker has some doubters at Elland Road, although the sample size is very small.
According to 90 Mins (14 July), the Whites are in talks with PSG over a potential deal for the 20-year-old striker.
“Just from speaking to three people, there are already mixed views among such a small survey group on whether this guy fits the bill,” said Jones to Give Me Sport.
“They say that definitely not everybody at the club thinks that somebody of his profile is the way to be going right now.”
The French youngster is likely to cost around £21m. The Whites have already submitted an offer of around £17m, but it was rejected.
It will be interesting to see whether Leeds will make another effort to bring the player to Elland Road this summer.
The Whites badly need to sign a striker this summer, but Marsch wants to bring in a young talent rather than moving for an experienced striker.
Patrick Bamford is currently the team’s first-choice striker but he remained injured for major part of the season.
Joe Gelhardt is another option for Marsch but he is also very young and raw.
Probably that’s why there is scepticism that whether the youngster would fit into the current system and become a first-team regular.
This has been a massive transfer window for the Whites, but it can get even better if the club can land a striker and a left-back before the window ends.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites can sign this “excellent” left-back for £20million.
