Journalist: Leeds United still in the race to sign Charles De Ketelaere

Leeds United are still in the race to sign Club Brugge attacker Charles De Ketelaere, although AC Milan appear to be in the driver’s seat in the transfer battle, as per journalist, Alexandre Braeckman.

The RTLSport journalist has been covering every development in the De Ketelaere transfer saga, and he has provided an update on 13 July on Twitter.

He suggests that the Whites are not out of the race, as yet. However, their offer is “frozen”, and the situation is “pending”.

He wrote on Twitter: “Will the player sign this week? Too early to say. The clubs negotiate and everyone is open. – Are Leeds out of the game? No, the offer remains frozen, but they are pending.”

Here’s the picture

Club Brugge are willing to sell their prized asset, and they want any potential suitor to come up with an offer close to £33-34 million for the player.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder prefers a move to the Italian club who can offer him the Champions League football that he craves.

Leeds can definitely match Brugge’s asking price, especially with Raphinha now all set to depart to Barcelona.

They can utilise the money to bring in an attacking midfielder and a striker to wrap up a memorable summer transfer window in a long long time.

Knowing that the deal could go either way, the Whites probably have shifted their attention elsewhere, with Porto attacking midfielder Otavio being heavily linked in recent weeks as well.

AC Milan, obviously are one of the giants of Europe, and they have greater pulling power. It’s understandable that De Ketelaere wants to join them instead of moving to Elland Road.

With the Raphinha transfer saga over, it’s high time, Leeds actively ends this – one way or the other.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that a midfielder who was admired by Marcelo Bielsa is set to leave this summer.
