Journalist: Leeds make contact with German club over in-demand defender

Leeds United have welcomed two new defenders to Elland Road already in this window after missing out on Ben White.

The Whites have signed both Diego Llorente and Robin Koch, with the German international starting each Premier League game so far.

Llorente wasn’t in the squad at Sheffield United but should be against Manchester City – with the Whites possibly not stopping there in terms of additions.

Norwegian journalist Jonas Giaever has claimed that Leeds are interested in Hamburg defender Stephan Ambrosius.

Reporting on his personal Twitter account, Giaever shared that the Whites have made contact with the German side over the 21-year-old.

Giaever admitted that Ambrosius has brought a lot of attention upon himself with his performances in the Bundesliga 2.

That would suggest that more clubs than just Leeds are interested in the defender, who can still represent either Germany or Ghana at international level.

Ambrosius has started the season superbly in Germany, helping his side to back-to-back wins over Paderborn and Dusseldorf.

The 21-year-old has been rock solid in defence, completing 100% of his slide tackles and making 27 interceptions and clearances combined according to WyScout.

We find it highly unlikely that Leeds will sign another defender as this window comes to an end next week.

With Michael Cuisance’s move from Bayern Munich reportedly collapsing, the Whites will be working hard on midfielders, and Ambrosius may need to wait until January or next season to earn a move to Elland Road.
