Journalist issues update on Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt amid links to Ipswich Town

Links to Ipswich Town for Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt are wide of the mark, according to East Anglian Daily Times journalist Stuart Watson.

The journalist took to Twitter to quash any links to the 21-year-old striker this summer.

The Liverpool-born forward has been linked with a loan exit from Elland Road but thus far is still at Leeds.

Watson wrote on Twitter, “Reports of Town signing Joe Geldhart (Leeds) and selling Freddie Ladapo are wide of the mark.”

He stays?

Gelhardt began the season as the first-choice striker with Patrick Bamford out injured and Rodrigo leaving the club permanently.

However, despite spending half the season on loan at Sunderland, he failed to polish his game to that level where he can be a regular for Leeds.

He also did not have a great time at the Black Cats and for someone playing as a striker, he needs to be scoring more goals.

As of now, it seems like he’s staying put at the club, but Leeds need to look at potential destinations for him.

It remains to be seen if any Championship club comes in with a late loan push for the young striker and Daniel Farke is unlikely to have a problem with it.

He knows that it’s important for players at that age to play regularly and he perhaps will not get too many minutes at Leeds.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has spoken about Luis Sinisterra potentially leaving Elland Road on transfer deadline day.
