Journalist delivers verdict on Tyler Adams Leeds United future amid Manchester United interest

Manchester United hold an interest in Tyler Adams although it’s unlikely Leeds United will sell the American international according to Graeme Bailey.

TEAMtalk have suggested (30 October) that Adams’ performances have attracted to attention of Erik ten Hag, with the Dutchman being a long-term admirer of the 23-year-old.

Bailey has revealed (TEAMtalk, 30 October) that he doesn’t feel a midfielder is top of Manchester United’s priorities. However, the 90min and TEAMtalk journalist did suggest a big name could depart Elland Road in January.

“I don’t believe another holding midfielder is that high on Man United’s wanted list in January. They will do business but this deal is highly unlikely at best,” said Bailey.

“I think Adams and [fellow summer signing, Marc] Roca, have been pretty good since coming in. They look like a really nice partnership in the middle. And Adams has been good enough to attract attention for a move in January from Manchester United.”

He added: “But I am told this will not happen. Leeds could do business in January, and they are potentially in danger of losing a big name. But that will not be Adams.

“One potential caveat to Adams’ future could be whether he is happy to play on at Leeds under someone other than Jesse Marsch. That is a question he may need to ask himself one time in the future.”

Who could it be

Who could it be that Bailey is referring to when it comes to a high-profile departure from Elland Road? Jesse Marsch’s summer signings have all been a relative success and some are bound to be attracting some sort of attention.

Brenden Aaronson has adapted well to the Premier League and is an American international, which is likely to gain the interest of some clubs higher up the financial ladder than Leeds. Marc Roca has been a rock in the midfield and Rasmus Kristensen is slowly starting to find his feet.

Luis Sinisterra could be who Bailey is alluding to after adapting well to English football, but again, is unlikely to depart having only arrived in the summer window.

Potentially one of Leeds’ more senior attackers could be set to move on in the January window, Patrick Bamford is woefully out of form at the moment and certainly fits the “big name” status that Bailey has suggested.

Let’s just take this one as a bit of speculation and look at the positive news of Adams not leaving Elland Road anytime soon.
