Journalist blown away 'Beautiful' Sean McGurk goal for Leeds United u-21s v Middlesbrough

Joe Donnohue has waxed lyrical over Leeds United sensation Sean McGurk after his goal against Middlesbrough under-21s on Saturday.

The Whites’ reserve side managed to win 4-2 and it was due to the 19-year-old’s strike that they managed to grab a foothold in the game.

While the senior side are not living up to expectations, the under-21s are clearly doing very well, giving Jesse Marsch a number of options to consider from.

Via Twitter, the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist wrote, “Sean McGurk (sub): Curled in a beautiful goal during the second half to turn the contest on its head. Played centrally with Perkins and Joseph more advanced either side of him. Looked comfortable dictating attacks from the No. 10 position.”

Versatile

The 19-year-old is a right winger by trade but is capable of playing on the other flank as well as a number 10.

He came off the bench on Saturday afternoon and wreaked absolute havoc in the Boro defence which helped turn the game on its head.

We’re really excited by the teenager’s progress and it remains to be seen what kind of player he develops into in the coming years.

Hopefully, he goes out on loan to a Championship club next season as he does deserve a season of regular first-team football under his belt.

If after that, the manager feels he’s ready to break into the senior squad, then so be it as he does have the potential of being a first-team player.

As of now, it’s all about enjoying his football at any level and paying heed of what the coaches say to develop his game.
