Josuha Guilavogui could feature for Leeds United against Bristol City if he receives a work permit, according to Joe Donnohue.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported on Wednesday (23 October) that the 34-year-old's move to Elland Road is still pending international clearance and a work permit after the Whites announced the transfer.

Daniel Farke and his side travel to Ashton Gate on Saturday (26 October) to face the Robins and the versatile midfielder will only be able to feature if both the permit and clearance are completed in time.

Guilavogui has put pen to paper on a short-term deal until the end of the Championship season as Farke looks to bolster his ranks after both Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu picked up injuries.

Why have Leeds United completed Josuha Guilavogui transfer at Elland Road?

It would certainly be a boost to Farke and his side if Guilavogui could feature against Liam Manning's side on Saturday, especially with the lack of depth currently available to the Leeds United boss in the middle of the park.

But if a work permit isn't approved or clearance can't be given ahead of the trip to Ashton Gate, it won't be the end of the world as both Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell have shown they're more than capable of stepping up in recent weeks.

Even if Guilavogui is allowed to feature against the Robins, it seems unlikely that Farke would rush to tinker with his new-look midfield from the off. Unless one of Rothwell or Tanaka picks up an injury in training, they will start again in the South West.

Hopefully, all the paperwork needed will be received and processed well in advance of the Saturday lunchtime kick-off. If not, Farke and his team will just have to go as they are against Liam Manning's Reds this time out.
