Josuha Guilavogui shares improvement Leeds United must make in promotion verdict

Leeds United midfielder Josuha Guilavogui has identified his side’s away performances as the main area of improvement if they are to get promoted, while claiming opposition players are “afraid” of the Whites.

Daniel Farke’s side have the third-best home form in the Championship but just three away wins have been cause for slight concern.

Guilavogui shared those concerns in an interview with Leeds Live (26 November) claiming that teams are “afraid” of facing the Whites at Elland Road.

The Frenchman said: “We have to improve our game away because at home we are really, really strong. We are really dominant and even the teams coming to Elland Road, they are afraid of us, afraid of our fans.

“You can see, when we are coming in the flow, there is no chance at all. If we want to be champions or finish in the top two, we have to make good performance away.”

Away form could be crucial for Leeds United

The Whites’ thrilling victory away to Swansea was just their third victory on the road in eight attempts with Leeds demonstrating the sixth-best away form in the division.

While the home form is important, turning some of those draws into wins could prove crucial in their hopes for a return to the Premier League with the top four looking like it will remain tightly contested throughout the season.

A win against Luton (27 November) could send Leeds back to the summit of the Championship but with a long way still to go.

Many have identified Farke’s side as favourites to win the league and if they can add that extra 10 per cent to their away performances, it’s hard to see a scenario in which they fail to get promoted.

The positive to take from Leeds’ away encounters is that they have only lost once and that ability to be resolute at opposition grounds puts them in excellent stead to building on the performances.
