Josh Warrington hand-picks Crysencio Summerville as his latest Leeds United boxing sidekick

Josh Warrington has continued his trend of picking Leeds United players to walk him out to the ring, with Crysencio Summerville his latest choice.

Warrington is preparing to defend his IBF World Featherweight title against Alberto Lopez next week, and the Leeds-born boxer paid a visit to Thorp Arch to pick his latest sidekick.

The 32-year-old boxer posted to Instagram showing him meeting a handful of Leeds stars, including good friend Luke Ayling who walked Warrington out for his rematch against Kiko Martinez in March.

However, Ayling has been tossed to the side in favour of in-form Leeds United ace Summerville this time around according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Summerville ended the first half of the season with four goals in four consecutive games.

A Leeds honour

Warrington’s adoration of Leeds United is known across Yorkshire. The featherweight boxer is a huge fan of the club and is regularly spotted both at Elland Road and Thorp Arch speaking to the squad.

It seems Warrington – along with the rest of the Leeds fan base – has fallen in love with Summerville after his remarkable few weeks in a Leeds shirt.

As if netting a winning goal against Liverpool at Anfield wasn’t enough, Summerville then followed it up with another late winner against Bournemouth before scoring again a week later against Tottenham.

He’ll be hoping to pick up where he left off when Leeds welcome Premier League champions Manchester City to Elland Road on Boxing Day.

But before that, Summerville has been granted the Leeds honour of walking Warrington to the ring – in a title fight no less. It’ll no doubt be accompanied by a rendition of Marching On Together in what is bound to be a blockbuster event.
