Josh King reveals that Erling Haaland 'loves Leeds'

Leeds United are a team that Erling Haaland ‘loves’, his Norway international teammate Josh King has revealed.

The Borussia Dortmund striker is one of the hottest prospects, scoring 13 goals in 10 appearances this season before suffering a hip injury.

There is considerable speculation about his future, with Sky Germany reporting that Haaland has a £63m release clause.

However King, currently at Watford, has admitted that Leeds hold a special place in the 21-year-old’s heart.

Speaking on Ben Foster’s Cycling GK YouTube channel, King was asked by the goalkeeper about whether he thought Haaland would move to the Premier League.

“I do know that he loves Leeds,” he replied. “I don’t know if that will happen, but we’ll see. I would love to see him in the Prem. He loves the Prem.”

We can only dream

It is well-documented that Haaland is a Leeds fan, having been born in the city while his father Alf-Inge was playing for the Whites in 2000.

It just makes it all the more frustrating that a move to Elland Road is completely out of the question on the basis of finances.

Leeds will also be kicking themselves after coming close to signing Haaland in 2017 when he visited the training ground.

At the time he was playing for Norwegian side Molde and beginning to make his name as a 16-year-old. He signed for Red Bull Salzburg 18 months later before joining Dortmund a year after.

Perhaps there is a possibility that the superstar striker makes a sentimental return to the city in the latter stages of his career, but for now Whites fans can only dream of a Haaland-Bamford strike partnership firing them to the Premier League title.

In other Leeds United news, the club are tracking a contract rebel who they are keen on signing in January.
