John Eustace speaks out on George Hall future at Birmingham City as Leeds United transfer speculation emerges

Birmingham City manager John Eustace has stated he would love to keep George Hall at the club for as long as possible, amid emerging links to Leeds United.

The Whites were previously linked with a January move for the English wonderkid according to the Mail on Sunday [15 January] as they were looking to add two younger players to their squad with Birmingham’s first-team midfielder Hall a top target.

The Daily Mail reported on 3 April that the 18-year-old wonderkid is in demand from clubs in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A with Leeds reportedly sending scouts to track his progress at St Andrew’s.

And the Blues coach has spoken out on such links insisting that Hall will continue his development at Birmingham for the foreseeable future.

Speaking via BirminghamLive [6 April], he said: “Absolutely, 100%. I want George here for as long as we can sign him on here.

“Everyone at the football club loves him to bits, he’s in a very good environment. I know the fans have really taken to him, he’s one of our own and we want him here for as long as we can.

“He’s approaching 30 appearances this season. We’ve played him in the big, big games. We trust him. He’s got the trust of the group, he works hard. He doesn’t moan, he doesn’t sulk, he gets on with his work and he’s a pleasure to work with.

“George can go right to the top.”

Understandable links

Given the tremendous potential and current ability of the 18-year-old, the links to Leeds United are certainly understandable given the plethora of young talents currently making their trade at Thorp Arch.

So far this campaign, Hall has established himself in the Birmingham City first team, featuring in 27 Sky Bet Championship games, registering a goal and an assist.

As Eustace states, Hall has been utilised in the big games which will almost guarantee him to develop even further for the future and it’ll be no surprise to see him rewarded with a big move in the near future.

Renowned as one of the Championship’s top talents through his emergence this season, it is no surprise Premier League clubs are circling and Leeds United could represent an exciting and ideal next step for him.

Given Eustace’s comments on the links to the club, Birmingham would certainly not reject any offers in the regions of £15m+ given their current financial state, and it’s a potential deal which the Whites board won’t turn their nose at.
