Joel Piroe was full of praise for teammate Joe Rodon after Leeds United claimed a 3-0 win over Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

The Welshman partnered Pascal Struijk in the centre of defence as Daniel Farke's men netted three unanswered goals against Wayne Rooney's side at Elland Road on 2 November.

Dan James opened the scoring with an outrageous effort from outside the box before Piroe and Brenden Aaronson handed Leeds a three-goal lead before the half-time break.

Commenting on Rodon's Instagram post [2 November], Piroe simply wrote: "Wall," with a flame emoji, with Struijk adding: "Partner," with a tick emoji.

Leeds United extend unbeaten run against Plymouth Argyle

Farke's men are now unbeaten in eight matches, rising to second in the Championship table and within three points of league leaders Sunderland, who drew 0-0 with QPR on Saturday.

Leeds have also kept three clean sheets in their last four matches, which is testament to the job that Rodon and Struijk are doing in the centre of defence, protecting Illan Meslier.

The Whites have put themselves in a brilliant position to secure promotion to the Premier League, and signing Rodon on a permanent deal looks to be one of the deals of the summer so far.

With upcoming fixtures against Millwall, QPR and Swansea City, Leeds could potentially take the top spot in the Championship, though fans will not be getting too ahead of themselves after missing out last term.

Another player who deserves a lot of praise is Piroe, who now has five league goals to his name this season despite starting the campaign on the bench, understudy to Mateo Joseph.

The Dutchman seems to have replaced the 21-year-old striker, and rightly so, because his current form deserves a spot in the starting XI.
