Joel Piroe in huge ‘best’ verdict after what he’s done at Leeds United
Joel Piroe has taken the Championship by storm this season after completing a transfer to Leeds United in 2023.
In the current campaign, Piroe has been magnificent at Elland Road, leading the goalscoring charts at the West Yorkshire outfit.
Daniel Farke’s team are fighting for Premier League promotion, with the 25-year-old centre-forward playing a starring role.
The Dutch national mostly played as an attacking midfielder last season but has taken more responsibility in recent months as a number nine, which has certainly impressed many.

Leeds United goals make Piroe one of the best
Piroe is up there with the best strikers in the Championship due to his goal contributions in the current campaign, David Prutton says.
The Sky Sports pundit has named the 25-year-old as one of the top three forwards in the league as he’s found himself up there with the best goalscorers.
Competition (2024/25) | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Championship | 38 | 15 | 6 |
Prutton feels the Dutchman has been effective this season, and the West Yorkshire outfit’s strength up front has brought the best out of him.
Speaking to Football League World (23 March), the pundit said: “Piroe because he is literally up there with the top goalscorers.
“[He’s] quietly and effectively got about his business so far this season, with an abundance of pace and talent around him, it’s really brought the best out of him, I feel.”

Farke right to bet on Piroe as first choice number nine at Elland Road
Patrick Bamford has been a loyal servant at Leeds for several years now, but it looks like the Englishman’s time at the Peacocks is coming to an end.
Injuries have hampered the 31-year-old in recent months, and he has been almost completely phased out of the team, making just 10 appearances in all competitions in the current campaign.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Bamford leave the Whites next summer, and a transfer away certainly looks on the cards.
Farke relied on Mateo Joseph for a considerable period during the start of the season, but the Spanish striker’s underwhelming displays have seen him warm the bench lately.
In times of desperate need for the West Yorkshire outfit, Piroe has ensured they have someone to rely on up front.
The 25-year-old has shouldered the burden of scoring goals impressively, showcasing his versatility at Elland Road.
With the Whites level on points with Sheffield United at the top of the Championship, they will need Piroe to be firing on all cylinders in the final eight fixtures.
