Joe Rodon injury update after Wales break with Leeds United return now due

Joe Rodon has come through his international period with Wales unscathed ahead of his return to Leeds United, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.

Joe Donnohue has shared that Rodon will return in full fitness to Thorp Arch as attention turns to Friday’s [18 October] showdown with Sheffield United.

Rodon was praised for his performance for the Dragons on 14 October, keeping a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Montenegro in Cardiff.

The centre-back has started in every game for club and country so far this season and will again likely be selected for the all-Yorkshire battle at Elland Road.

Joe Rodon is of great importance to Leeds United

Rodon has been one of Daniel Farke’s most crucial players during his time at the club, making 50 appearances on loan last season and almost becoming a key figure in Premier League promotion.

Retained permanently over the summer – thanks in no small part to the Archie Gray departure to Tottenham Hotspur – he has at times been criticised but has also regularly repeated his capabilities.

The 26-year-old appears to have found his footballing home, playing his best football to date since first appearing in the white of Leeds.

Rodon’s appearances for Spurs were sporadic at best – and a loan spell at Rennes in 2022-23 only yielded 16 Ligue 1 outings.

In a small and compact Whites squad put to the sword by injury problems in recent weeks, Rodon’s fitness is absolutely vital to the club’s chances of achieving a non-negotiable promotion aim.
