Joe Rodon injury news emerges ahead of Leeds United clash v Preston
Daniel Farke has played down injury fears surrounding Leeds United defender Joe Rodon on the back of the 3-1 win over Middlesbrough.
Rodon sustained a knock during Tuesday’s (10 December) Championship contest, which saw Leeds return to the top of the division – albeit not without its controversy.
Sam Byram was also seen limping about late on at Elland Road in a game in which some stood out more than others, but both look set to be available for Saturday’s (14 December) trip to Preston North End.
As relayed by Leeds Live reporter Beren Cross via X [10 December]: “Farke allayed any fears about Rodon or Byram’s condition.
“The latter had some cramps in his first game back and the former took a whack, but the manager said he was never taking him off. Especially after all his celebrating at the weekend.”
Joe Rodon hugely important to Leeds United promotion hopes
Rodon’s importance to this Leeds United side cannot be understated. The Wales international has started all 20 of the Whites’ Championship games this term.
Indeed, he has played the second-most minutes of any outfielder, behind only Pascal Struijk, and recently celebrated his first goal for the club, as reference by Farke in his comments.
Rodon’s warrior-like qualities in the heart of defence will be missed if he does spend any time on the sidelines, which Farke will no doubt be wary of.
The fixtures come thick and fast at this time of the year, with barely any time to rest up, so Farke may well consider resting the centre-back for a game.

Exactly which game that will be, though, is another matter. Preston this coming weekend is another difficult test and one Farke will want to be full strength for.
Given the knock he sustained against Middlesbrough, let’s just hope the three days between games is sufficient enough for Rodon to fully rest up in time for the Deepdale showdown.
