Joe Rodon needed a "bit of repair" after a clash of heads between the Leeds United defender and a Wales team-mate against Turkey.

Speaking on BBC Radio Wales (16 November, 5:42 pm), commentator Rob Phillips was shocked upon seeing a close-up replay of the collision between Rodon and Mark Harris, which left both on the deck.

The duo clashed as they went up to head a Turkish chance away from danger, but the centre-back was eventually back to his feet and able to continue after being bandaged up.

Phillips said: "Two Wales players collide there. Rodon was one, Mark Harris the other – Rodon has come off worse because I think he took it in the face.

"Oh that's horrible, that is horrible, they both went up, and Rodon caught Harris on the side of his head, but Rodon – I think his nose might need a bit a repair off the back of that."

Joe Rodon recovers quickly from potential Leeds United blow

Since pitching up at Elland Road on an initial loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur last season, Rodon has shown that he's certainly not afraid to put his body on the line for the cause in defence.

That's clearly the case for both club and country and having been patched up before continuing as if nothing had happened in the Dragons' UEFA Nations League game, there'll be sighs of relief all around.

As the 27-year-old closes in on his 50th Wales cap, he is also just as much of a key figure at Elland Road, starting every match this season and renewing his partnership with the equally impressive Pascal Struijk.

Max Wober still being on his way back after injury – despite an international call-up of his own – makes Rodon's ever-presence in the side crucial for Daniel Farke ahead of a packed Christmas period.

Farke won't have been happy to see his star £10million defender take yet another blow while carrying out his defensive duties, but the Welshman continuing as if nothing happened will provide plenty of respite.
