Joe Rodon ban update shared after what happened in Leeds v Sunderland
Joe Rodon was involved in a moment of controversy for Leeds United as they secured a vital 2-1 victory at home to Sunderland.
Leeds received a massive boost to their promotion hopes with their win against Sunderland on Monday night (17 February), but it wasn’t without several moments of contention.
Daniel Farke’s side were unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty when Dennis Cirkin appeared to rugby tackle Ao Tanaka in the box while there were several other incidents off the ball that sparked debate on social media.

Joe Rodon to avoid action after Leeds flashpoint v Sunderland
In the first half of the clash, Illan Meslier was able to collect the ball before a small rucus ensued. Wilson Isidor, despite not being involved in the passage of play, rushed to the scene and locked horns with Rodon, who appeared to move his head in the direction of Isidor’s face.
Supporters on social media were quick to point out the incident, but according to Joe Donnohue, there is no risk of a retrospective ban.
The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported (18 February) that: “[Stuart] Attwell brandished a yellow card for Isidor, meaning he saw the incident take place and took what he deemed appropriate action to reprimand those involved.
“Retrospective punishment is not applicable in cases where the referee has already made a decision on the pitch, meaning Rodon will continue to be available to Leeds.”
While Rodon may be safe, Largie Ramazani is another who could be at minimal risk of a retrospective ban after his antics after the full-time whistle.

Leeds United will breath sigh of relief over Rodon
Had Rodon been sent off, it would have been a huge blow for the Whites heading into another crucial promotion six-pointer against Sheffield United.
Rodon has been a crucial figure under Farke, and has been one of the main catalysts behind their successes so far this season
While Leeds have a healthy advantage at the top of the table, one slip-up can prove very costly and completely derail the momentum they have gained from the last several games.
If Leeds can secure all three points against the Blades, promotion will appear all but nailed on, while a defeat would certainly cause a slight bit of unrest heading into the final 12 games of the campaign.
