Joe Gelhardt is facing a new injury issue that could halt his fine form away from Leeds United.

Gelhardt has been sensational for Hull City, scoring again in their recent 2-0 win against Norwich City at Carrow Road on 1 November.

With Derby next up for Hull on Tuesday, Gelhardt is unfortunately facing a race against time.

Joe Gelhardt injury emerges away from Leeds

Gelhardt has scored in his previous four games for Hull.

The England youth international is known for his robust style, and that appears to have caused a slight issue with a bruised ankle.

It is reported by the Yorkshire Post that Hull are desperately hoping that Gelhardt can recover in time to lead the line against the Rams at Pride Park on 4 November.

The striker has six goals already this season, only three behind Brandon Thomas-Asante, who leads the way with goal-hungry Coventry.

Either way, Leeds fans are watching Gelhardt closely now.

Daniel Farke to recall Joe Gelhardt?

With Joffy on fire in the Championship, already outscoring Mateo Joseph, it is easy to make the assumption that he could do a job at Elland Road still.

Joel Piroe, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have two goals between them after 10 Premier League games, with Joseph away on loan in Spain.

Gelhardt left LS11 due to limited opportunities, and it is hard to imagine he would get any now given the aforementioned names still at Elland Road.

If someone like Piroe was to leave in January, then the door could open.

Leeds fans would likely rather see money used on another top quality winger to go opposite Noah Okafor, though, with several new faces still needed to stay in the Premier League.

Several more goals between now and January could see Leeds with a decision to make over Gelhardt, who will surely still be desperate to make a name for himself at Elland Road in the Premier League.

You simply can't say no to that.
