Joe Gelhardt could leave Leeds United on loan next season after clear ‘frustration’ at Elland Road – Sky Sports pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has suggested Joe Gelhardt could be sent out on loan again in the 2023/24 campaign in order for him to develop further.
The 20-year-old is currently with Sunderland on a temporary basis and has netted one Championship goal since moving to the Stadium of Light.
Robinson believes the former Wigan man should have been given more of a chance at Elland Road when Patrick Bamford was out injured during the first half of the season.

“I think it’s a positive that he’s in the position to get chances and score goals,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“He’s an exciting young talent. He will be disappointed with his lack of goals and he will want more but I don’t think it’s defining.
“The new manager hasn’t had a chance to take a look at him so you don’t know what’s going to happen next year with the situation at Leeds and his personal situation.

“The manager may look at him in preseason and decide he wants him to be part of his squad next year or there might be a different manager who has the same opinion.“
“He could be sent out on loan to develop further. He was unfortunate not to get more of a chance at Leeds when Patrick Bamford was injured.
“The loan has been beneficial to him. He’s been playing football and he has to be playing football. He should’ve got more chances at Leeds.
“He was the only fit centre forward at times and wasn’t getting a start. It was really frustrating.
“The writing was on the wall with the previous manager but to go out on loan shows his ambition and drive to want to play and score goals.”
