Joe Cole in stitches at ‘brutal’ Daniel Farke claim he heard at Leeds United
Joe Cole was left in stitches after he heard shouts for Daniel Farke to be sacked after earning promotion with Leeds United.
Farke lived up to his reputation as a promotion specialist after officially leading Leeds back to the Premier League on Easter Monday (21 April).
Sheffield United’s 2-1 defeat against Burnley at Turf Moor, just hours after the Whites’ 6-0 mauling of Stoke City, sealed their promotion to the top flight.
Although there are two games left to be played, all eyes are now on the summer transfer window, as the Elland Road outfit make their much-awaited return to the Premier League.

Cole reacts to Farke sack speculation
Meanwhile, there have been suggestions in some quarters that Farke is not equipped to lead Leeds United in the Premier League.
This has led to a debate about whether the West Yorkshire outfit should sack Farke before next season.
Carlton Cole is among those who have raised concerns about the German tactician, and thus, put the topic up for discussion with Cole and Wayne Bridge on The Dressing Room Podcast (21 April).
“You think it’s unjust [to sack Farke after earning promotion]?”, Carlton asked.
Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goals | Points | Points Per Match |
102 | 59 | 24 | 19 | 196:94 | 201 | 1.97 |
Bridge was quick to hit back at the suggestion, using humour to respond, saying: “I hope you don’t own a football club one day.”
Meanwhile, Cole, who was in stitches like Bridge, poked fun at Carlton’s ruthless approach.
“Carlton Cole owns Leeds, Daniel Farke has just won the league title, he’s thinking, ‘I’m going to get a new deal'”, he said before making an ‘out’ gesture.
Bridge chimed in, saying, “Sacked. See you.”
Carlton, though, stood his ground, stressing the need for the clubs to be ‘brutal’ with their decisions, as football is a business at the end of the day.
“Mate, you’ve got to be brutal, it’s business, do you know what I mean?”, he said.
“You’re a Championship manager, thank you for bringing us up, you’ve done your job, now I’ve got to move on.”
Leeds United ready eight signings
While there are doubts about Farke’s credentials as a Premier League manager after his struggles with Norwich, it would be harsh of Paraag Marathe to sack him at this stage.
The general feeling is that the Leeds United ownership will back the former Borussia Monchengladbach for the time being.
All eyes will now be on the summer transfer window, with Adam Pope already mooting eight new signings for the Whites.
Therefore, the Peacocks are in for an exciting summer ahead of their return to the Premier League.
