Jim White stuns talkSPORT guest with ‘extraordinary’ Leeds story – ‘Wow’
Leeds United are a club firmly looking towards the future after recent developments at Elland Road.
Daniel Farke’s men recently secured automatic promotion back to the Premier League and could secure a spot as champions as they prepare to take on Plymouth Argyle in the final game of the season.
The 49ers are wasting no time in looking forward, either, as they have already announced plans to expand Elland Road as the Whites look to continue their growth.

Leeds United story leaves Danny Murphy impressed
Daniel Farke has done a solid job with Leeds and although form took a bit of a dip, the boss showed what he was made of and took his side back to the top.
The 49ers have backed the German in the quest for promotion, achieving his aims at the second time of asking.
Now the top flight is calling once more, the owners are already preparing to build upon that and have announced their plans for expansion in West Yorkshire, increasing the capacity of Elland Road from 37,645 to approximately 53,000.
Stand | Capacity |
Don Revie (North) Stand | 7,000 |
Jack Charlton (East) Stand (aka Hesco Stand) | 15,000 |
Norman Hunter (South) Stand (aka Elland Road Stand) | 5,000 |
John Charles (West) Stand | 11,000 |
Although the expansion of a stadium can sometimes be a risky move, Jim White put any worries to rest live on talkSPORT (30 April, 11:42am), as he revealed: “At Leeds there are currently 26,000 fans on the waiting list for a season ticket and every home game has been sold out for the past six seasons.”
Danny Murphy was taken aback by that as he simply replied: “Wow.”
White responded to say: “It’s extraordinary.”
Elland Road development could accelerate Leeds
There is bound to be some concern over the development of Elland Road when you look at some of the Premier League sides who now sit in soulless stadiums.
However, as White has pointed out, the number of supporters that are already waiting for season tickets in West Yorkshire suggests that Leeds will be just fine.
Allowing more supporters through the door will naturally increase match day revenue, but the development of the facilities will also allow for further money-making off the pitch.
It won’t be an easy task to extend their stay in the Premier League past just one season, as he been shown by the sides coming back down.
However, the 49ers are showing that they are serious about long-term development for the Whites and this is something that could certainly aid that.
