Jim White shares Leeds United and Chelsea fans admission live on air ahead of FA Cup showdown

Jim White has revealed that the Leeds United and Chelsea fans “don’t like each other” after they were drawn together in the FA Cup fifth round.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday (8 February, 11:39am), the host said the Blues “did well” to make it through after seeing off Aston Villa 3-1 on Wednesday (7 February) to set up the tie against the Whites on 28 February at Stamford Bridge.

White added that he remembers the 1970 FA Cup final between the two sides, where a David Webb goal secured the winner for the West London club in the replay, with the clash being known as the “brutal cup final”.

“As for the FA Cup, Chelsea did well and got through to the next round after beating Aston Villa and now it’s Leeds United,” said White.

“You’re too young to remember the 1970 final, I was 13. I remember it vividly. It went to a replay, Chelsea against Leeds, David Webb got the winner. It was called the brutal cup final.

“These clubs don’t like each other, the fans certainly don’t.”

Opportunity for Leeds United to test themselves against Chelsea

This is a great opportunity for Leeds to test themselves against Premier League opposition when they make the trip down to Stamford Bridge later this month.

The fans will certainly be well up for the occasion as there’s a place in the quarter-finals of the competition at stake and they could spring a surprise in West London.

Chelsea haven’t been in the best of form this season and can be beaten on their day as the Whites’ fellow Championship side Middlesbrough showed with their 1-0 victory in the first leg of their Carabao Cup meeting.

But the Premier League club do still have plenty of quality in their ranks, so Daniel Farke will know his side must be at their absolute best if they want to pick up a result.

The German will have been delighted to see his players finish their replay against Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday (6 February) so strongly, having scored three goals in extra time to secure a 4-1 win at Home Park to set up the meeting against the Blues.

In other Leeds United news, a player who left Elland Road in January has compared his new side to his former Whites teammates.
