Jim White reveals what he’s been told in ‘secret conversations’ about Leeds

Jim White kept his cards close to his chest when discussing the “secret conversations” he’s had with Leeds United fans about promotion.

Speaking on talkSPORT with Simon Jordan (28 January, 11:08am), White said he’d spoken at length with several United supporters after being asked how confident he was that they would win promotion.

Discussing the Peacocks’ 0-0 draw with promotion rivals Burnley on Monday, Jordan and White argued that amid the constant pressure at Elland Road, Daniel Farke’s side are well on course for the top-flight.

Jordan said: “[They] are doing a great job because they’re managed under huge pressure; Daniel Farke, with the expectation of Leeds United to get back to the Premier League.”

“Very much so, I think they will [win promotion]”, White added, “I have secret conversations with a variety of people, who support Leeds United, and they all tell me…

“I think Leeds still look good for it, and I’d take them to do it – I think Leeds will finish strongly, and will get there in the end.”

Leeds United boost promotion claims with Burnley stalemate

Although Monday’s match at Turf Moor certainly wasn’t easy on the eye – with Daniel James having the only shot on target in the 89th minute – it was one that the Whites can come away from with positives.

A draw and clean sheet in arguably their hardest remaining game this season certainly isn’t to be sniffed at, and it leaves the Peacocks three points clear of third place with the league’s best goal difference.

Sheffield United and Sunderland’s respective home loss and home draw to Hull City and Plymouth Argyle in this round of fixtures meant that having avoided defeat themselves, this week has been a good one.

As things stand, the Peacocks remain in pole position to seal their Premier League return at the second time of asking, with next month’s trip to Bramall Lane shaping up to be the biggest of the campaign.

Burnley’s impregnable home record remains undented now that the league’s best team have come and gone, but with the Whites still sitting pretty, it’s they, not the Clarets or Blades, who are the team to beat.

In other Leeds news, the Whites could be set to miss out on two transfer targets to the same big-hitting European club.
