Jim White reacts live on talkSPORT as Leeds United tipped to sack Javi Gracia in ‘kneejerk’ decision

Jim White agrees Leeds United fans are unhappy with Javi Gracia after Danny Murphy tipped the Spaniard to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked.

Gracia, 52, has had a mixed bag of results since being hired by the Whites to replace Jesse Marsch in late February.

However, he hit rock bottom on Monday night with the Yorkshire club losing 6-1 in front of the home fans to Liverpool at Elland Road.

Leeds are now 16th in the Premier League table with 29 points, no games in hand and by far the worst defensive record in the division.

Murphy believes the trigger could have been pulled on Gracia after that defeat.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning (19 April, 11:23am), Murphy said: “I don’t dislike [Gracia].

“What I said at the beginning of the show was that I’m surprised he’ll still in the job.

“Because of the way the Premier League is and the way football is at the moment for kneejerk reactions, I felt that because of what went on there on Monday night, the way the fans left and how toxic it was, I thought, ‘do you know what, they could just react here’.

White responded, saying: “Sure. Sure. They’re not pleased with him.”

Pointless

Victor Orta has assembled such a poor squad that even Pep Guardiola would struggle to keep this bunch from being rolled over by teams like Liverpool.

Defensively, we’re a shambles.

Illan Meslier is good for his age but he’s not a good Premier League goalkeeper yet.

Pascal Struijk should be out on loan in the Championship.

Robin Koch’s form has dropped off a cliff as the season has gone on.

Junior Firpo has been rotten for ages and no one has bothered signing a decent, new left-back.

Rasmus Kristensen is still finding his feet but is looking like another Marsch dud.

Weston McKennie and Brenden Aaronson were also signings that were no doubt forced through by either Marsch or soon-to-be-owners 49ers Enterprises.

Orta lost his touch after Marcelo Bielsa left because Bielsa kept him grounded and only wanted the best of the best to come in. Absolutely no half-measures.

Marsch just wanted to surround himself with players who’d previously played for him or who were also from the States.

Gracia is a good manager but he’s been told to draw the Mona Lisa with a blue biro by Orta and Andrea Radrizzani.

In other Leeds United news, a key Whites ace is being tracked by a mega-rich club ahead of a possible summer deal.
