Jim White moots Leeds United return for Lee Bowyer alongside Sam Allardyce as advanced talks held
Jim White has mooted a potential Leeds United return for Lee Bowyer in a coaching role alongside Sam Allardyce.
Former Everton and West Ham boss Allardyce is close to formalising an agreement to succeed Javi Gracia in West Yorkshire, according to the Guardian.
And talkSPORT host White believes former Leeds midfielder Bowyer, who played for the club from 1996-2003, could coach alongside Allardyce for the remainder of the season.

Lee Bowyer was speaking to me a short time ago,” White said on talkSPORT. “I love his passion. When he played in a Leeds shirt, the Leeds United faithful loved him for the way he went about the job.
“He’s still got a huge admiration and affection for the football club. If called upon, he said: ‘You bet I would do a job for them, I’d jump at the chance.’
“Who knows, Allardyce in the box seat to take over, but who’s to say Bowyer doesn’t get in there in some shape or form as well?”

Desperate times at Elland Road
Gracia had provided a much-needed boost upon his arrival with some positive results, but those positive results have quickly evaporated in recent times.
The Spaniard oversaw victories against the likes of Nottingham Forest and Wolves, thus lifting spirits in and around West Yorkshire as the Whites picked up vital points in their fight for safety.
But things have taken a turn for the worst once more after the 4-1 loss against Bournemouth on Sunday (30 April).
That defeat came after a 1-1 draw at home to Leicester City, which in turn came after three successive defeats to Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Fulham.
The situation is now desperate at Elland Road, with fans all too familiar with the meaning behind bringing in a boss like Allardyce, who will be there simply to save the club from relegation.
Even though it would be a desperate appointment, Leeds fans will not care one bit if the manager is appointed and subsequently guides the club to safety.
In other Leeds United news, Piers Morgan has savaged Whites players for what they did to fans on their way to the stadium for their match against Bournemouth last month.
