Jim White asks Kemar Roofe if he regrets leaving; ex-striker delivers Leeds promotion verdict
Kemar Roofe has said that he’s got no regrets at all about leaving Leeds United, saying you have to keep looking forward.
However, Roofe did say that he watched Leeds play whenever he could and said that he had a “very good feeling” about promotion this season.
Roofe left Leeds for Anderlecht for a fee of £5.4m in the summer where he’s scored seven goals in 16 games this season.
Talking on the Jim White Show (talkSPORT, Weds, 12.00pm), the host asked Roofe whether he had any regrets about leaving Leeds.
“It was a big decision to leave Leeds and go to Anderlecht, do you have any regrets?” White asked.
“No regrets at all,” Roofe replied. “If I’m asking questions like, ‘Should I have done this?’, you’re going nowhere.
“I made a decision and I’ll stick with it. I’m enjoying it and want to keep improving.”
Asked if he still kept an eye on Leeds and what he thought of their promotion chances Roofe said, “When I get a chance I watch them. We play a lot on Sundays so if I finish training on time on Saturday I’ll watch them play.
“I still talk to a lot of the boys and they’re flying, they’re flying. I’ve got a very good feeling for them this season.”
Leeds fans are still asking questions about Roofe and whether Leeds would be in a different position if he’d stayed.
He scored 14 goals in the Championship last season but he was out for a couple of stretches through injury.
It’s been much the same story at Anderlecht this season. Roofe missed the first few games and is currently out with a calf injury.
We think, all in all, that it was okay business to move him on, although Roofe and Patrick Bamford would have been a better combination that Bamford and Nketiah.
One thing is certain, the Leeds fans will really appreciate what Roofe has said about watching them play this season. Once Leeds, always Leeds.
