Jesus Vazquez potential Leeds United audition as full-back lines up against Under-21s

A potential Leeds United audition could well take place as Jesus Vazquez starts for Valencia against Michael Skubala’s under-21s.

ElDesmarque Valencia suggest (27 November) the 19-year-old is set to hold crisis talks with the La Liga club, with the left-back suffering from a lack of game time at the Mestalla.

His mood will not have improved after he was named in a Valencia eleven to play against Leeds’ under-21s on Friday 2 December. Vazquez may not be happy with his current situation, but the fixture does give the Yorkshire side a good opportunity to look at the full-back, as they continue to be linked with a move.

Gazzetta Dello Sport suggest (16 November) Vazquez has a £34.9million release clause in his current contract, however, it’s also believed (El Desmarque Valencia, 30 November) he also has a clause which will allow him to leave due to a lack of game time.

Considering the Whites’ need for a left-back, a move for the Vazquez does make a lot of sense for Jesse Marsch. The Spaniard is clearly a talented young player who will be able to develop should he make the move to Elland Road.

With Junior Firpo struggling to settle for Leeds since his move from Barcelona, it’s become a huge problem area for the club. Pascal Struijk has performed well out of position, but ultimately, he is far better suited to operating in the centre of defence.

It seems a big sum of money but considering his desire to play first-team football, there could well be a move for Leeds to explore in the coming weeks and months.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now scouting an attacker at the World Cup and a January move appears to be on the cards for them.
