Jesse Marsch shares 'good influence' Willy Gnonto has on Crysencio Summerville at Leeds United

Jesse Marsch has revealed he is “on top of” Crysencio Summerville to ensure the 20-year-old’s performance levels remain high after his winner for Leeds United against Liverpool.

The Dutchman fired a memorable late winner for the Whites as Marsch managed to ease some of the growing pressure on his shoulders on Merseyside.

The American has also revealed (Phil Hay, 3 November) that summer arrival Willy Gnonto has had a “good influence” on Summerville, with the pair striking up a good friendship.

Level head

Summerville was entitled to enjoy the moment at Anfield and have a day or two to reflect on the win. However, a week can change everything in football and if Leeds fail to put in a performance against Bournemouth, then the Anfield heroics will be quickly forgotten.

The Whites simply have to deliver against the Cherries and build on their previous result. Bournemouth have started the season well on their return to the Premier League, but a win for Leeds will take them above the south coast side whilst also having a game in hand.

Marsch will without a doubt be targeting the game at Elland Road as his side’s best chance of getting some points on the board ahead of the World Cup break. Leeds travel to Wolves in the League Cup before a daunting trip to North London to face Tottenham.

Three points will be the aim for Leeds, but if they could steal a point against Antonio Conte’s side, it would turn into an excellent week’s work.
