Jesse Marsch reacts when asked by Jamie Carragher if he’ll be managing Leeds United next season
Jesse Marsch has laughed off Jamie Carragher’s attempts to see if the American will be the Leeds United manager next season.
The Daily Mail reported on 17 February that Leeds have made Marsch, 48, their top target to replace Marcelo Bielsa if the Argentine quits Elland Road in the summer.
It is understood that there’s a possibility that Bielsa will opt to move on when he makes a decision on his future when the season ends.

Marsch is out of work right now and has been earmarked as a replacement and Liverpool legend Carragher has tried to get it out of him whether he’s keen on moving to Leeds.
As shown in a clip on the CBS Sports Golazo Twitter account on Tuesday night [22 February], Carragher said: “It’s been a pleasure talking to you. Am I going to get this pleasure a lot more next season because you’re coming to Leeds, aren’t you?”
Marsch laughed and replied saying: “You’ve been reading the newspapers and Twitter too much.”
Carragher then fired back: “Can you not give us an exclusive?”
The ex-RB Leipzig manager then said: “Listen, I’m enjoying being unemployed, let’s just say that. I’m enjoying a little bit of a free time now.”
Thierry Henry thanked Marsch as Carragher wrapped up the interview by joking: “Thanks Jesse, see you next season.”
Bielsa exit firmly on the cards
Most Leeds fans won’t want to hear and this isn’t us saying that we want Bielsa to go – but it does seem likely.
Bielsa isn’t one for sticking around with his time at Leeds United the longest he’s spent at any club in his managerial career.
Since his arrival in 2018, we’ve got better and better, finishing higher and higher with each passing season.
However, this term, it looks as though we’re going backwards and Bielsa may feel as though it’s best for him to move on and Leeds may feel similarly about him.

It won’t be a sacking, it won’t be a resignation. It’ll be a mutual separation that’s natural in the process of building Leeds United.
We don’t still play with Pablo Hernandez on the wing or Barry Douglas at left-back do we? We’ve moved them on, signed better players and improved as a result. And the same goes for the manager.
Marsch is an interesting one to replace Bielsa as he’s someone who’s worked his way up from MLS to then going from club to club within Red Bull’s ownership to RB Leipzig.
He was sacked by them in December after just a few months in charge so we’re a bit concerned by that.
However, he’s someone who knows how to work in the set-up Leeds have behind the scenes and is known for playing a similar style of play to Bielsa.
We’ll see but we won’t draw conclusions yet.
