Jesse Marsch reacts to Leeds United promotion as new image emerges

Leeds United’s promotion back to the Premier League has caused delight amongst many former players and managers.

Daniel Farke finally got the job done as the Peacocks won the Championship title with 100 points.

It means that the Yorkshire club will return to the English top-flight after two years out, which will provide a massive cash injection at Leeds.

Outside of Elland Road, many were delighted about the news. Former manager Marco Bielsa was ecstatic about promotion, years after his own success

Now, his successor, Jesse Marsch, has also given his opinion on the news after a recent interview with Kieran Maguire.

Marsch expresses his ‘delight’ for Leeds

Marsch was the manager of Leeds between 2022-23 in the Premier League.

However, his stint at Elland Road did not go as planned, and he was eventually sacked after a run of just six points in eight matches.

Since then, the American has now become the manager of the Canadian national team as he prepares the country for the 2026 World Cup.

Yet, despite ending his stay at the Peacocks on a sour note, Marsch still has a great affinity for Leeds.

In a recent appearance with finance expert Maguire, the manager expressed his delight at the Yorkshire side returning to the Premier League

Maguire said (7 May): “Great to be on the same stage with Jesse Marsche today in Cologne talking technical (him) and financial (me) tactics.

“Good, good guy, super smart and looking forward to the World Cup next year. Delighted Leeds have been promoted too.”

Farke needs to ensure he doesn’t follow in Marsch’s footsteps

While Marsch may still be liked by a small portion of the Leeds fanbase, his time in the Premier League was disastrous.

The American was a big reason why the Peacocks went down in the 2022/23 campaign. When he was eventually sacked, he left the Yorkshire club 17th, only above the relegation zone on goal difference.

Marsch was a failure at Leeds United

The decline under Marsch was clear, and much of the work Bielsa had put in vanished. Farke must ensure that similar steps are not followed, or Leeds will be relegated next season.

The German’s Premier League record has already been questioned, but he has every chance of turning this around at the Peacocks.
