Jesse Marsch provides update on Leeds United defender, raves about Stuart Dallas

Jesse Marsch has showered heaps of praise on Leeds United midfielder Stuart Dallas, saying he is a “fantastic” player.

In the absence of Junior Firpo, Dallas has been playing in the left-back role, and he has heavily impressed the Whites boss.

Firpo is also getting sharpness in his fitness, and it won’t be long before he can get back to action, but probably will miss the Man City clash on Saturday.

“We work with Junior a lot and hopeful we can get him fitter and fitter to help the group. He can help the group,” said Marsch, as quoted by Leeds Live.

“Ease with the ball from LB and find solutions in controlling the game. Whether this is the match to see we will evaluate. He has looked good in training. Stuart has been fantastic.

“His mentality and his work rate to understand the game is at such a high level. I know LB is not his preferred or best position.”

Terrific

Dallas is a top-quality player who can play in multiple positions for the club.

Every manager would be lucky to have a player like Dallas who is technically outstanding and gives his best on the pitch every time.

He is best used to playing in midfield but the 31-year-old is equally adept at playing in the left-back role for his club and country.

In contrast, Junior Firpo has struggled since joining from Barcelona. He has made 19 appearances in the league, including 15 starts.

The Spaniard has got tremendous potential and showed his class in the 1-0 defeat against Leicester City.

The 25-year-old defender still needs to improve a lot to adjust to the pace of the Premier League, and surely Marsch will look to make him a better player going forward.

The next three games are absolutely crucial for Leeds. They face Manchester City on Saturday followed by two tough games against Arsenal and Chelsea.

In other Leeds United news, Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips have send messages to one of their exit-linked teammates.
