Jesse Marsch posts delighted World Cup reaction with photo alongside fellow Leeds United figure
Jesse Marsch was delighted to see the USA advance alongside England at the World Cup as he watched with Leeds United coach Pierre Barrieu.
At the same time as the Three Lions topped their group with a 3-0 win over Wales on Tuesday in Qatar (29 November), Marsch’s homeland overcame Iran 1-0 to reached the knockout rounds.
Tyler Adams captained his country again, playing the full 90 minutes, while fellow Elland Road standout Brenden Aaronson came on at half time, and their club manager watched with the French fitness coach as Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic scored the only goal of the game.
The Whites boss posted a photo of himself with Barrieu and their sons on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night, with the message: “Fantastic to see USMNT progress from the group.
“Watched the game alongside fellow assistant coach Pierre Barrieu after 12 years, what an evening!”

It was another night where Leeds United players impressed for the US side, and Marsch will be delighted with what he has seen from Adams during this tournament.
The American captain has been earning plaudits from all angles and the Elland Road boss will just be desperate to see him avoid injury.
Aaronson has been surprisingly uninvolved at the World Cup so far, considering his leading role with United since his summer arrival, with two brief substitute appearances prior to the Iran game.
For the key final group game Gregg Berhalter turned to him at half time to replace injured goalscorer Pulisic, and if the Stamford Bridge man is kept out for the next game he will have eyes on a starting role.
Whites fans and management will be hoping that a successful run in Qatar can be a psychological boost to the pair of US internationals, and can translate into further good form back in the Premier League.
Some decent results prior to the six-week lay-off staved off immediate danger but some quick wins immediately after Christmas would put the side in a good position to push on through the rest of the season.
In other Leeds United news, Gary Lineker was blown away by what he heard from one Elland Road favourite.
