Jesse Marsch opens up on Leeds United January transfer plans
Jesse Marsch has suggested that it is very early to discuss transfer talks ahead of the Premier League clash on Sunday (16 October) between Leeds United and Arsenal.
The Whites boss was asked whether he will look to sign a striker in the winter market. Marsch has stated that he will shortly hold a meeting over this but refuses to give away enough details.
While some exciting young talents are pushing for a chance in the senior side, Marsch is waiting for the right opportunity to include them.
“Meeting in a few weeks about the window. Early to discuss these things, however, that was clearly a target of ours and we will assess the attackers moving forward,” said Marsch, as quoted by Leeds Live.
“Young group of attackers we have is very exciting and the beauty is with the 21s or us they show that quality every day. Makes me think when the right time is to give them opportunities. Better results might allow me to be riskier with the youngsters. Want this to be part of our process.”
Patrick Bamford returned to starting line-up against Crystal Palace and he looked really sharp.
Rodrigo has chipped in with important goals at the start of the season, but apart from that the forward department really needs bolstering.
Marsch has made it very clear that signing a striker was a priority for him during the summer.
Leeds didn’t want to create a situation that could jeopardise the progress of Joe Gelhardt. However, this season, the youngster hasn’t really impressed as everyone expected.
The Whites also signed Wilfried Gnonto, who is seen as one of the brightest young talents in Europe at the moment.
The likes of Cry Summerville and Sam Greenwood have been consistent performers at junior levels.
But more depth in the forward department is needed and the club should look to sign a recognised striker with a proven scoring record in January.
The Whites made a bright start in the Premier League, but they have failed to win since August. The Gunners are in terrific form at the moment, and it will require a strong performance to get something from this game.
