Jesse Marsch next job already lined up after Leeds United sack as US journalist shares update
US journalist Tom Bogert has suggested it’s a “real possibility” that Jesse Marsch takes the vacant USA national team head coach role after he was sacked by Leeds United.
Gregg Berhalter’s contract expired after the World Cup and the position still remains unfilled ahead of their CONCACAF Nations League fixtures against Grenada and El Salvador.
Bogert, who has previously written for The Guardian, has suggested the former Leeds boss would take the job if it was offered to him.
“Jesse Marsch head coach + Jim Curtin assistant coach for the USMNT is a real possibility, I can tell you that,” he wrote (via Twitter, 7 February).
“Obviously depends on who the new sporting director is and what they want to do with the coaching search… but Marsch/Curtin would do it.”
All the best
Marsch was clearly not the right fit for Leeds and it did feel like he was massively out of his depth at times. The American was potentially unaware of the size of the challenge and it was the right decision from the board to make a change.
However, many fans will wish the American well. He obviously played his part in bringing the likes of Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie and Georginio Rutter to the club, and they will all go on to be assets in the future. Furthermore, it was clear he gave his all whilst at Elland Road.

Sadly, his managerial ability wasn’t cut out for the Premier League. The USMNT job is certainly something which would appeal to Marsch and it would not be a surprise to see the 49-year-old take up the role in the coming months.
As for Leeds, ensuring a smart appointment is made before the weekend fixture against Manchester United is absolutely vital. There are only so many fixtures left in the season and time is certainly of the essence.
