Jesse Marsch: Junior Firpo will likely train today as Leeds United players were ‘overtrained’

Jesse Marsch has confirmed that Junior Firpo will be back in Leeds United training on Tuesday afternoon.

The American was live on talkSPORT with Ally McCoist and Natalie Sawyer this morning and admitted that the players were overtrained before he arrived.

Marsch shared that the squad was physically and mentally drained when he arrived, and it was something he looked to change quickly.

Speaking live on talkSPORT this morning [12 April, 9:15 am], Marsch shared the major update on his squad.

“These players were overtrained, and it led to them being physically, mentally and psychologically in a difficult place.

“We tried to put that into place to help the players, the one with Patrick, I felt terrible about. Junior Firpo will likely be in training today.”

Another boost.

It has been a huge development that we are welcoming more players back than losing them due to injuries recently.

Marsch so openly admitting that the injuries were because they were overtrained appears like a dig at Marcelo Bielsa, but it is far from it.

We all knew deep down that it was Bielsa’s methods that caused these injuries, and many were trying to get him to change that.

With Firpo now coming back today, that means that Patrick Bamford and Tyler Roberts are our only senior absentees which is huge.

The bench is looking more and more packed with senior options each week, and after this two-week break, we should have a near fully strength squad -that will be massive.
