Jesse Marsch in talks with intermediaries to take charge at Leeds United amid Marcelo Bielsa exit claims

Ex-RB Leipzig manager Jesse Marsch is set to be offered the job at Leeds United with Marcelo Bielsa now sacked, according to 90min.

The football news website reports that due to the assumption that Bielsa would leave Leeds in the summer, “Marsch had already spoken to intermediaries about taking over at Leeds in the summer”.

However, it is understood that the American’s appointment is likely to be moved forward due to Leeds’ dire form in the Premier League and the fact they’re just two points clear of the relegation zone with two teams below them having two games in hand.

Leeds confirmed at 11am on Sunday morning (27 February) that Bielsa is no longer their manager.

Bye-bye, Bielsa

It’s hard to describe how we feel about Bielsa’s reign as Leeds United manager coming to an end.

In a way, it’s expected. Not many managers survive the run of form that he’s overseen in recent weeks and nor is the club’s league position helpful.

All it takes is for Everton and Burnley to win one of their two games in hand each and we’re in the bottom three.

Yes, we’ve had horrific luck with injuries and yes, our last three games have seen us play Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham.

However, the way that the team rolled over and got completely outclassed shows that either the players here are simply not good enough away from Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips. Or that Bielsa is not good enough to keep us up.

Bielsa will know himself if he’s got to leave Leeds. He’d do that. He’d quit his job if it meant for the greater good of the Whites.

And it looks as though that may be the case but Marsch coming in to replace him does worry us a lot.
