Jesse Marsch hits out at Andrea Radrizzani after Leeds United decisions

Jesse Marsch has slammed former Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani for sacking him while the club were fighting relegation from the Premier League last season.

The former boss claimed Radrizzani paid the price for pulling the trigger as he thought he was beginning to move things in the right direction at Elland Road.

Marsch was sacked with the club in 17th place, after a seven-game winless run, in favour of Spanish boss Javi Gracia, and later Sam Allardyce as Radrizzani scrambled for a solution to their Premier League relegation battle.

Speaking to the Daily Mail [20 December], the American detailed: “What went wrong is we were a couple of results away from really getting everything moving in the right direction, and I believe that everything was already moving in the right direction.

“But in the end, the owner just lost his nerve. And he paid the price for it.”

Radrizzani caused a nightmare

While he cannot be held completely responsible for the Premier League, relegation Radrizzani’s late scramble to find any possible solution to the relegation battle almost certainly caused more issues than it helped at Elland Road.

Sometimes consistency can be key when it comes to a manager, and while Marsch may not have been that person, the likes of Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth sticking with Steve Cooper and Gary O’Neill at the time may have served as proof of that.

The merry-go-round of managers at Elland Road towards the end of last season was a joke and prevented the players and the club from finding the consistency and tactical understanding needed to fight strongly against the threat of relegation.

Marsch is right to be frustrated at his former boss, and his belief that he was the right man to turn things around at Elland Road is admirable.

Leeds fans, though, will be relieved with the state of the club as it is now, with Daniel Farke and 49ers Enterprises proving the calmness and consistency they would have longed for last season.

In other Leeds United news, the club received a transfer boost as one target is now expected to leave his club.
