Jesse Marsch could push for Hwang hee-chan if Leeds United fail to complete Georginio Rutter transfer

Jesse Marsch is reportedly understood to be a fan of Wolves striker Hwang hee-chan and that can explain the Leeds United summer pursuit.

According to the Athletic’s Phil Hay [8 January], the Whites have already made an approach to sign Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter.

As they attempt to strike a deal with the German club, it wouldn’t be surprising if Marsch is already lining up Hwang as a potential alternative.

The Wolves striker has previously worked with the American at RB Leipzig and the links to Elland Road make complete sense.

The Whites even pursued the services of the South Korean on transfer deadline day in the summer, but to no avail and he ended up staying put.

Rutter does appear to be the priority this month and Leeds are going into overdrive to secure the services of the Frenchman.

However, transfer pursuits are extremely complicated and there are no guarantees of him moving to Elland Road even if all parties want it to happen.

Marsch could already have lined up Hwang to walk through the door if Leeds cannot sign Rutter as they cannot afford to go another window without bringing in a striker.

They did that in the summer and have struggled to find someone consistent to lead the line with last-minute signing Willy Gnonto still to start a game playing as a number nine.

It remains to be seen how Marsch and Victor Orta handle the situation if they fail to sign Rutter this month.

In other Leeds United, the Whites are closely involved in the bidding for an international striker and are even prepared to spend £14million to secure his services.
