Jesse Marsch stance on quitting Leeds United in summer shared amid relegation worries

Jesse Marsch is unlikely to resign if Leeds United are relegated from the Premier League this season, according to The Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath.

Writing on The Telegraph website on 6 May, McGrath said that Marsch is “unlikely to go back on his word” after the American confirmed his commitment to Leeds when he was first hired.

Leeds’ Premier League safety is not in their hands with four matches left to play due to 18th-placed Everton having a game in hand while being two points behind the Whites.

Speaking about the job at Leeds after he was hired in late February, as quoted by The Telegraph, Marsch said: “I am committed to being here no matter what the situation because I believe in it so much.”

Will he be sacked?

Leeds have shown this season that if they feel they’re in trouble, they’ll go to the extremes of sacking one of the club’s greatest ever managers.

Marcelo Bielsa’s exit was a bit of a shock.

Results had been terrible, as had his signings in the last 12 months, but ultimately, he was a club legend and getting rid of him was a very, very bold move.

From what we’ve seen so far, the decision to sack Bielsa was a warranted one because at the end of the day, Marsch has won games and picked up points.

Would Bielsa have picked up more points? It’s hard to say because we’ll never know but we doubt that Leeds would be completely clear of the bottom three has the Argentine been backed.

Ultimately, our issues come down to two or three major issues.

Injuries, transfers and tactics.

Bielsa can take blame for the tactics and, to a degree, the transfers but we’re seeing under Marsch that the injuries cannot be blamed on the manager for – we’ve simply been very unlucky.

In other Leeds United news, there’s a major issue on the cards for the 49ers’ takeover and Andrea Radrizzani might have to re-negotiate a deal.
