Sky Sports pundit sees Jesse Marsch lose cool after what Brentford players did v Leeds

Jermaine Beckford spotted Jesse Marsch lose his cool on the touchline as Brentford’s defensive shape proved a tough nut to crack for Leeds United.

The Whites enjoyed plenty of the ball against Thomas Frank’s men but failed to create many clear-cut opportunities during the draw at Elland Road.

Marsch’s frustrations appeared to get the better of him in the second period when Sky Sports pundit Beckford saw the American lose his cool on the touchline.

“No, they’re not [showing them a way through] and it’s extremely frustrating and you can see Jesse Marsch on the touchline really starting to lose his patience, his cool,” said Beckford (Sky Sports commentary, 15:21, 22 January).

“They’re trying to force it through the middle of the pitch and Brentford are so well organised, they’re not giving up any space to these Leeds United attackers.

“What Leeds United need to do is move the ball out wide a lot quicker and get players in one v one situation and really test the Brentford defenders.”

Frustrating

It was an extremely frustrating afternoon for Leeds against the bees, who proved extremely hard to break down at Elland Road. They looked to flood the box with as many defenders as possible and were more than content with a point to take back to the capital.

Considering Leeds dominated large periods, Marsch will be frustrated his side couldn’t pick up a vital three points. It feels as if the Yorkshire side keep failing to make significant gains in their fight to beat relegation. This match against Brentford and the draw with West Ham were there for the taking.

The pressure is now really starting to mount on the American, who has been significantly backed by the board so far. He was active in the summer window and it’s been a similar story in the January market, with Leeds already breaking their club record for Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter.

There’s now nowhere to hide for the 49-year-old – and if results don’t come soon, his job could well be in jeopardy.
